Embedded Soft Inductive Sensors to Measure Arterial Expansion of Tubular Diameters in Vascular Phantoms

چکیده

Measuring diameter change in flexible tubular structures embedded opaque material is challenging. In this article, we present a soft braided coil an elastomer tube as method to continuously measure such diameter. By measuring the inductance coil, estimate instantaneous with simple model. applying method, demonstrate that waves vascular phantom, model of radial artery viscoelastic wrist structure, can be recorded continuously. Four sensors were made, and their ability physiologically relevant simulated pulse was assessed. Several pressure profiles generated using precision digital pump. Inductance measured simultaneously optical laser/mirror deflection measurement. One sensor then phantom human wrist. The via ultrasound estimated from measurements. estimates corresponded well comparator both experimental setups. We our viable alternative recording models. This opens opportunities empirical investigations interesting fluid-structure interaction. provide new changes systems where access obstructed.

Brain Arterial Diameters as a Risk Factor for Vascular Events

BACKGROUND Arterial luminal diameters are routinely used to assess for vascular disease. Although small diameters are typically considered pathological, arterial dilatation has also been associated with disease. We hypothesize that extreme arterial diameters are biomarkers of the risk of vascular events. METHODS AND RESULTS Participants in the Northern Manhattan Study who had a time-of-flight...

Microfluidics based phantoms of superficial vascular network

Several new bio-photonic techniques aim to measure flow in the human vasculature non-destructively. Some of these tools, such as laser speckle imaging or Doppler optical coherence tomography, are now reaching the clinical stage. Therefore appropriate calibration and validation techniques dedicated to these particular measurements are therefore of paramount importance. In this paper we introduce...

Detection of Stiff Nodules Embedded in Soft Tissue Phantoms, Mimicking Cancer Tumours, Using a Tactile Resonance Sensor

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common form of cancer among males in Europe and in the USA and the most common curative treatment is removal of the prostate, i.e. prostatectomy. After the removal, the prostate is histopathologically analysed. One area of interest is to examine the perifery of the prostate, as tumours on and near the surface can indicate that the PCa has spread to ...
